With the LoCo-Unit (Logging & Controlling Unit), GRIZZLAR will present at IAA 2025 in Munich a solution that has never before been available in this compact design and at this level of affordability. For the first time, high-frequency control, comprehensive data logging and modern vehicle management are combined in a single product – seamlessly integrated with the DevOps Software (Development & Operations Software). The result is a platform that unites motorsport performance, development flexibility and production readiness in one system.

The LoCo-Unit offers data logging with up to 2 TB of storage and enables the realization of control tasks across a wide spectrum – from combustion engines with up to 4 cylinders to the logic of controllers for electric motors with 3 to 6 phases. At the same time, it takes over vehicle management, consolidating key functions in a single system.

The integrated Ethernet interface makes the LoCo-Unit a central hub for vehicle data: signals can be aggregated, synchronized and processed in real time. This makes it suitable not only for use in the vehicle itself, but also for Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) development. Thanks to its architecture, it can be used like a test bench measurement device, enabling seamless transitions between simulation, testing environments and real-world applications.

A key feature is dual-core processing:

  • One core continuously handles control and measurement of the ECU, providing real-time data.

  • In the series product, the second core primarily oversees safety functions.

  • In the development version (DevKit), the second core can additionally be used for high-resolution logging, Wi-Fi communication for diagnostics, test bench or motorsport purposes, or Ethernet connectivity for demanding real-time analyses.

This architecture ensures a clear separation between safety-critical control tasks and application-oriented communication and logging functions.

GRIZZLAR offers the LoCo-Unit directly as a series product, complemented by a DevKit with maximum hardware configuration and a comprehensive software package of the DevOps platform. This enables developers to fully leverage all capabilities and move seamlessly between prototyping, motorsport and series development.

In the long term, the DevOps Software also gives vehicle manufacturers the ability to grant their own service centers or independent workshops targeted access to diagnostic and service functions. This ensures that manufacturers retain full control over how and to what extent these functions are used – a crucial foundation for sustainable, future-proof and manufacturer-driven vehicle support.

In addition to IoT, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and OTA flashing, the combination of the LoCo Unit and DevOps Software provides a flexible and scalable system that bridges motorsport, series development, service and innovative prototyping – enabling an entirely new approach to control and data management in the automotive sector.

GRIZZLAR will present this innovation to the public for the first time at IAA 2025 in Munich.
